Nicholas Franklin Pierce
June 20, 1982 - December 24, 2001
The Nicholas Franklin Pierce Memorial Foundation was established to honor the memory of a young man who died on Christmas Eve of 2001. Nick Pierce graduated from Mountain Brook High School in May of 2000. He was a National Merit Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He was a Guard on the 1999 Spartan Football Team and was selected by the coaches as the most improved player. After graduating from MBHS, Nick went on to the University of Alabama on a Presidential Scholarship and was elected President of his Pi Kappa Alpha pledge class. Nicholas was a scholar, an athlete, a leader, a loyal friend, and one who exceeded all expectations both on and off the field. Nick regularly stayed late to practice, long after his teammates and coaches closed their lockers and headed home for the day, displaying his strong work ethic and devotion to success. Off the field Nick's big smile, knack for imitating others, and the value he placed on his family and friends helped others to enjoy life almost as much as he did. Inscribed on the plaque that is mounted in the field house that honors Nick is the quote, "Never give up and Never give in," which describes the attitude personified by Nick Pierce and all of the recipients of this scholarship.
